Description
When you find a Bordeaux rated 93+ by Parker, 92 by Wine Spectator and 92 by Stephen Tanzer, you should pay attention. Chateau Fuageres produces three red wines from the St.-Emilion and Ctes de Castillon appellations. The vineyards top wine is Pby-Faugres and the 2006 Peby is a clear example of this. Parker explained produced from the estates oldest vines (45 years), the 2006 Faugeres Cuvee Speciale Peby is a 1,000-case cuvee of 100% Merlot that comes from a southeast facing hillside site on limestone soils. It is one of the most concentrated wines of the vintage. Big and substantial with extraordinary intensity, abundant notes of graphite, blueberries, blackberry liqueur, and smoky oak. Wine Spectator described blackberry jam, chocolate and lots of new wood on the nose. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a juicy finish. This is rich and concentrated for the vintage. Solid. A solid St. Emilion for sure and one to lay down if you like with its anticipated maturity running through 2025.
