Contrary to what I thought, the secret to finding the strength to be the mother I wanted to be was to cease trying to be strong, to stop trying to do it all on my own, and to become less of a self-sufficient adult and more like a dependent child. It was the acknowledgment of my powerlessness that taught me to discover God's strength.
