Joe Kells is a teaching pro at Boyle Park with Mill Valley Parks and Recreation, in Mill Valley, Calif., and for Tiburon Parks and Recreation in Tiburon, Calif.

This USPTA Professional previously was employed as a tennis coach at Marin Catholic High School in Kentfield, Calif. 

Joe became a tennis pro at Mesa Country Club while attending ASU. "The one-on-one aspect of the sport appealed to me and I knew from a young age I wanted to work with kids," he explains.

"I have the most experience working with young kids, trying to make it fun while they learn the important fundamentals at the same time," he says. "I enjoy watching a kid celebrate after winning a point in a group class and hopefully watching that same kid become a member of their high school tennis team ."

Joe plans to "continue to have strong junior programs that fill the local high school teams and add to the total of seven players so far that I have coached and who have reached the Excellence levels in USTA."

In USTA competition, Joe was named the Northern California Tennis Association 5.5 Player of the Year in 1987,won the Marin Cup Singles Open Championship in 1994 and was No. 2 in NCTA men's 40 singles in 1999. He has earned several other NCTA senior rankings as well.
