Using Dionysian materials and Athenian craftsmanship, and finishing with the glory of Aphrodite, Nueva's fourth graders crafted two tables out of an actual Cabernet Sauvignon wine barrel. The class worked in groups to dismantle the barrel and select perfect staves. They then measured, cut, drilled, sanded, and assembled two lovely, functional side tables that exude rustic elegance. These tables have been constructed with corrosion-resistant hardware and finished with a marine-grade sealant, so they may be used indoors or out.
