Description
Handmade wood bowl by Lauren Lane, a Farragut grandfather. This beautiful bowl is made from padauk and maple. Bowl measures 10 inches in diameter and 6 inches high.
Lauren Lane grew up in a small Colorado town, just over the hill from Aspen, and has always known and appreciated the wealth and beauty of trees. Using this knowledge and appreciation for the beauty of wood as an artist, he turns only one-of-a-kind pieces, constantly experimenting with various methods and designs. His segmented turnings explore exotic woods from South America and Africa, as well as all the varied natural woods of the United States. Lauren spent much of his life teaching woodworking to teenagers in California schools. He received Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in Industrial Arts, with an emphasis in woodworking. After retiring from his public school teaching career, Lauren now works fulltime on his woodturning art.
He is an active participant in the American Association of Woodturners. Lauren’s work has been shown at the AAW conventions in St. Paul, Minnesota; Tacoma, Washington; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Pasadena, California. Before moving to Lincoln, California he showed at the Art & Wine Festivals in Mountain View, Fremont, Los Altos, Los Gatos, Sunnyvale, and King’s Mountain. Locally, his work has been seen in Lincoln Arts Gallery, Noel Flynn Gallery, and Lincoln Hills Fine Arts Shows, including Art in the Park.
