Description
Robert Foley 2009 The Griffin Red: Robert Foley is acclaimed as a consultant and winemaker is his own right, but his proprietary wines can be hard to find. He brings The Griffin directly to the Bacchus Wine Shop in Georgetown and you will only find it here or there or at the vineyard itself. The recently released 2009 is described as ultra purple in color and offering “complex aromas of wild berries, camphor and violet blossoms. Expansive black cherry flavors couple with a well-balanced acidity and evenly gripping tannin”. Parker gave the 2008 93 points and praised the “irrepressible and highly talented” Foley and ‘The Griffin’ , named in homage to Ireland, as “a creative bland that is loaded with personality and soul”.
Hidden Vineyard Topel 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon: The Topel 2004 vintage is an elegant blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, all grown in the Hidden Vineyard on the Topel Estate. Flavors are opulent and very fruit-forward, with intense notes of black cherries and a hint of tobacco — a signature of Cabernet Sauvignon. Tannins are sturdy, yet the wine is perfectly balanced and has a lovely finish. This vintage is accessible now, but it is recommend to be set aside for the cellar because it will continue to age beautifully for the next 20 to 25 years.
