Description

Boscarelli Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano 2007: Rated 90 points by WS and 91 points by Antonio Galloni of Wine Advocate, who noted this Montepulciano as “a beautiful, sexy red laced with perfumed fruit, dried flowers, menthol and hints of licorice, all of which seem to float on the palate with remarkable grace. The overall impression is one of silkiness, with sweet, refined tannins that frame the fruit to the finish. The warm, radiant quality of the vintage is on full display. This is an absolutely fabulous bottle of Vino Nobile”.

Louis Jadot  2007 Gevrey-Chambertin: Gevery Chambertin is the most northern of the great communes of the Cote de Nuits.   2007 was a surprising vintage yielding particular wines with very mellow tannins that are a pleasure to drink.  Jadot produces this Gevery Chambertin from the vineyards lying on the extension of the slopes on which the Premiere Crus and Grand Crus are situated.  These vineyards vary considerably in quality making the producer more important here than anywhere and Jadot shines with its reputation for consistent quality.

Castel Giocondo 2003 Brunello di Montalcino: Constructed in 1100 to guard the road from the port at Talamone to Siena, the castle Giocondo has belonged to the Frescobaldi family since 1989. Already one of the top-quality producers of Brunello di Montalcino in the late 19th century, the tenuta of Castelgiocondo  yields massively-structured wines of great complexity and balance.  This Brunello from Marchesi de Frescobaldi received 90 points from Wine Spectator which noted “this is concentrated and thick, with black cherry and spices. Full-bodied, with soft tannins and a long finish. Very pretty. Best after 2010”.

Domaine Faiveley 2008 Mercurey 1er Cru “Le Clos du Roy”: Since 1825, the Faiveley family has cultivated its vineyards with the greatest respect terroir in Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise with a goal of producing the very best wines that Burgundy has to offer.  Here is the 2008 Domaine Faiveley Mercurey rated 86 by Wine Spectator which recorded “A vibrant red, offering raspberry and cherry notes. Firm and a touch dry on the finish, so enjoy in the near term for its fruit”.
