In the 2011 Wine Spectator article “Silver Oak’s Golden Rule” James Laube explained why this wine has “maintained a legion of cult-like fans for nearly 40 years with a consistent, drinkable style”.  He explained “it has become a textbook example of how to do it right” and that it has “maintained a distinct style that hasn’t wavered much...as distinctive as any” that can be readily identified even by novices with a little coaching.  The 2005 Alexander Valley was rated 82 by WS and noted as “tight, tannic and full-bodied, with chewy cedar, dried currant, sage and herbal notes”.  Join the cult here.
