Champagne Rose is the appellation for champagne which is tinted pink by the dark pigment of the Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes from which it is made. The wines are sometimes referred to as ‘pink’ champagne. The pigmentation in rose champagne is usually achieved by adding a little red wine to an existing white cuvee, with Pinot Noir being the variety that is typically employed.  Not as familiar in the market because it is usually smaller production nad just that much more dear, those that know it, love it and seek it out.  Laurent-Perrier’s NV Brut Cuvee Rose has been described by Wine Spectator as “Well-balanced and very tasty. Shows a toasty-yeasty aroma and soft, well-in informed by oak”.  The Wine Advocate described the Cuvee Rose as having “a soft, pleasing personality”, don’t you wish all you could say that of all your dinner companions!
