Robert Parker referred to Carlisle wine maker Mike Officer, along with Larry Turley and Turley’s winemaker Ehrin Jordan as “the reference point..for world class, quintessential old vine Zinfandels”.  Parker gave this old vines Zin 93 points and noted “a blend of 92% Zinfandel and 8% mixed blacks (meaning Carignane, Petite Sirah, Grand Noir, and Alicante Bouchet). It boasts a dark ruby/purple color as well as sumptuously sweet aromas of black raspberries, pepper, and earth. Pure, rich, and full-bodied, this stunning Zinfandel should drink nicely for 5-7 years”.  Wine Spectator wrote in 2010, “Of the 71 Carlisle wines we have reviewed since the winery's 1998 debut, 45 earned outstanding or classic ratings (90 to 100 points on the Wine Spectator 100-point scale)”.
