Celebrating Our 125th Anniversary During 2012

Durango’s historic Strater Hotel is celebrating its 125th birthday this year! Throughout 2012, the Strater will enjoy a variety of activities and events, and offer a special 125th Anniversary package for our guests. The annual Strater Hotel Open House is set for April 19, and will coincide with a special “Room Dedication” project where a variety of rooms will be unveiled through unique history tours; each room will include a displayed plaque, photo, and story. May 19 will mark the Diamond Belle Saloon Girl Reunion which will be attended by Merlie Lou Shephard Smith who is now in her mid-80s. A birthday party is planned for later in the year, though a date has not been set as of yet. The Durango Melodrama opens June 15 at the world famous Henry Strater Theatre and runs through September.
