• Ecological restoration and revegetation planning, installation, and follow-up services for large and small scale projects
• Exotic weed control
• Erosion management using local materials and native plants
• Regionally native plants for landscaping
• Contract grown plants for specific revegetation projects
• Xeric landscape design and installation services, specializing in drought-tolerant and low water landscapes.
WLS is committed to assisting landowners and developers of the Colorado Plateau to restore native landscapes and grow and build in a manner responsible to our unique environment.
Kara Dohrenwend, the founder of WLS, LLC, moved to Moab 15 years ago. She has formal training in landscape architecture and over 15 years experience working on riparian restoration and revegetation projects.
WLS has been operating in Moab, Utah for over 12 years. We have grown from experience, with enthusiasm for restoration and revegetation work. Our work has also grown in response to the rapid increase of recreational land use and development in this region.
Our most recent addition is a native plant nursery where we grow regionally native plants from seed and cuttings collected in Utah. While focused on larger growing projects for revegetation in our region, the nursery is open to the public once a month during the growing season for 3 days. Contact us for more information about contract growing, or our retail sale days.
Recent growth has allowed WLS to include more personnel in reaching our mission. All are passionate about revegetation and regional native landscapes. They bring a broad range of experiences and talents to WLS, including specialized knowledge in horticulture and the ecology and botany of southeastern Utah and the Colorado Plateau.
