A dynamic duo of DR Stephens Cabernet!  2 Bottles of 2005 DR Stephens Cabernet Sauvignon Moose Valley.

Tasting Notes from DR Stephens: The growing season in 2005 was, generally speaking, somewhat cooler than the previous few years, resulting in wines with natural balance and fruit-forward characters. This Cabernet is no exception. Warm cherry, raspberry and blueberry/blackberry tones dominate the aromas, with baking spice and vanilla notes rising forward given additional time in the glass. On the palate, flavors of dark cherry pie, vanilla and caramel show first, and as the wine broadens in the mid-palate more notes of cassis and dark chocolate show. The texture is of fine-grained tannins, indicating that this wine, while enjoyable now, will improve with 2 to 5 years of age with proper cellaring. This wine was produced entirely from the Moose Valley Vineyard near St. Helena, Napa Valley, and was harvested by hand in small lots throughout October 2005. The grapes were hand-sorted, destemmed, and then whole-berry fermented for approximately 20 days on skins before pressing. The new wine was transferred to new French oak barrels and aged for about 22 months, then bottled in late July 2007 without fining or filtration. The final blend is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, entirely from the Moose Valley Vineyard at the D.R. Stephens Estate
