Winemaker Notes: Long, cool years like 2009 always bring out the personality of a vineyard. At Devil's, the extremely long ripening season between veraison and harvest highlighted the natural fruit brightness and fine tannins so inherent to Devil's. The wine is wonderfully lush and rich, but its most significant impression is about elegance and balance. Devil's will be our sleeper of the vintage: the focused core of blackberry fruit will unwind and richen as it gains weight with age. Aromatically, the definitive wild blackberry jumps from the glass, along with blueberry and wild cherry overtones and a bit of cinnamon. In the mouth, the wild berry fruits are joined by sweet caramel, supported by exceptionally rich and dusty tannins and bright acidity.
