Oscar Oiwa was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1965. As one of today’s most important contemporary artists, Oiwa is widely known for works which focus on the impact of globalization. Having studied in Japan and the United Kingdom, his works show a visual interplay of cross-cultural influences from his Japanese heritage and traditions, contemporary manga, Western impressionism and science-fiction film.
