Description
IN THE CLOSET
Ever wonder what happens to all those costumes you see onstage at the Metropolitan Opera, on Broadway, or an episode of Law and Order after the show wraps? Chances are they continue their story at the TDF Costume Collection, where 75,000 costumes are hung with care in the Collection’s newly outfitted home at historic Kaufman Astoria Studios. This “walk-in closet” is fit for a king…or a queen, or a gangster, or a witch, or a policeman, or a gnome, or…well, the list goes on and on. TDF also provides a great service to non-profits like Playwrights Horizons, by renting out pieces of the collection at a fraction of what it would cost to produce original designs. Your grand tour is led by Collection Director, Stephen Cabral; Costume Designer Jessica Pabst (Assistance at PH); and Tiia Tochia, Head of the Playwrights Costume Shop. A perfect outing—or gift—for 10-15 of your favorite theater buff friends.
