Newly arrived in the burgeoning Amsterdam corridor at 106th street, The Neighborhood Restaurant and Bar aims to provide its guests with a dining experience new and unique. In that light, The Neighborhood welcomes Angela Roorda. A world traveler who started her career in Philadelphia at Le Cole de Cuisine, Angela moved on to Houston to apprentice under Chef Scott Tycer top 10 chef of the year 1999. She spent 5 years in SE Alaska at an upscale resort El Capitan Lodge serving seasonal and fresh upscale cuisine. She managed kitchens at The Sheraton both in PA and Stockholm, Sweden enforcing her high standard of quality. She has recently come to New York from Montreal where she was Chef de Cuisine at Mt. Stevens private club while serving as a personal chef within her catering company City Gourmet. She continues to focus on sustainable and local ingredients with respect to organic, farm to table aesthetic. She continues to develop her original cuisine most easily described as elevated American with a French influence.
