M.I. Hummel: "Crossroads" : Berlin Wall Crossroads Hummel # 331. This is a serial numbered special edition produced by Goebel commemorating the fall of the Berlin Wall. They made only 20,000 of them. They were sold only through the U. S. Military post and base exchanges in 1992. It consists of three pieces. The first is the special edition of the crossroads figurine with crossed American and German Flags on the base. The second is an exact replica of a portion of the original Berlin Wall with again the crossed flags, the serial number of the set and a special dedication statement all on the base of the piece. The third part of the set is the wooden base or stand with a brass placque which the special dedication statement also appears. The occasion was the fall of the Wall, but what really makes it special is the dedication written on the brass plate and on the bottom. It reads "WITH ESTEEM AND GRATEFUL APPRECIATION TO THE UNITED STATES MILITARY FORCES FOR THE PRESERVATION OF PEACE AND FREEDOM".
