Description
Eight lucky individuals will see, from the inside, how one of the world’s most advanced medical centers operates. They will gown up in scrubs and observe several surgeries, see the DaVinci robot in action, witness how advanced cath/angio procedures free patients from the need for surgery, tour the cutting-edge CyberKnife treatment center, and visit the Life Flight helicopter and landing pad.
This amazing half-day session will end with a thought-provoking roundtable lunch discussion, moderated by Stanford Hospital & Clinics’ President and CEO Amir Dan Rubin, with an internationally recognized panel of Stanford physicians including:
* George A. Fisher, MD, PhD—A Menlo alumni parent who directs the Cancer Trials office at Stanford. A physician leader of the GI Disease Management and Clinical Research Groups, Dr. Fisher’s research focuses on clinical trials involving new investigational agents to treat a wide range of cancers.
* Michael T. Longaker MD, MBA, FACS—The Deputy Director of the Institute of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine, whose research focuses on tissue engineering, repair, replacement, and regeneration.
* Frank M. Longo, MD, PhD—The Chair of the Department of Neurology and Neurological Sciences and a leading expert on Alzheimer’s Disease and other neurological disorders.
* Robert C. Robbins, MD—Our very own Menlo senior parent is an internationally renowned cardiac surgeon specializing in the surgical treatment of congestive heart failure. Bobby is the Director of the Stanford Cardiovascular Institute, Chair of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Director of the Heart-Lung and Lung Transplantation program.
