Description

Skip Shumaker is a Major League Baseball outfielder and second baseman who plays for the St. Louis Cardinals.

Schumaker broke into the major leagues in 2005. He has been with the Cardinals his entire career. In 2009 he was promoted to the starting second baseman of the Cardinals. Yet he is also a capable outfielder (strong defensive skills with an above-average arm). Because of his difficulty with left handed pitchers, he has been used mostly as a utility player.

In the 2011 post-season Skip played second base for 11 games and batted .381 (second only to David Freese), collecting 8 hits and 4 RBI’s.
