Description

This signed block print is entitled "Night of Ku", numbered 12/15 and is dated 1982.  The artist, Dale Addlesberger, was born in 1950 on the Eastern Seaboard of the United States.  In 1969, he visited Hawaii after two tours of Viet Nam with the United States Army.  He enrolled at the University of Hawaii, majoring in Pacific Art History and Printmaking. In the late 70's, Addlesberger traveled frequently to the Big Island of Hawai'i to enjoy the tranquility and ambiance of a less populated island.  In 1980, he decided to make a permanent move to the Kona Coast where he settled in the mountain region of Kealakekua and continued to pursue his art career.  During the 1980-90's, he was owner and director of Mauna Loa Gallery.  Besides duties of art director, he continued to paint, conduct workshops and illustrate books. Addlesberger has been entering shows since 1977 and has received numerous awards for his pastels on paper and mixed media sculpture.  He is an avid hiker and has an intense interest in archeology of Hawai'i.  His contact with the open lava fields, remote rain forests and isolated coastal regions, profoundly impacts the images he creates in his studio.

Measures 11x14 including matting.  Some foxing is visible on print and matting.
