This beautiful bowl of unknown wood (koa or kou?) belonged to Thomas C. White, born Jan. 8, 1877, in Lahaina, Maui.  He was the son of John Corbet and Martha J. (Robertson) White and was a rancher in the Kona district on the Island of Hawaii. He was affectionately known throughout the district as the “Mayor of Kona.”   In addition to his ranching activities he acted as Kona agent for the Bernice P. Bishop Estate from 1903 until 1923. On the bottom of the bowl is a sticker with the initials TCW. It measures 6" high and 5.5" across the lip.
