Teachers Joanna and Nichelle report that this abstract mural is the very first mural their kindergarten class, the Dolphins, created together. The student-artists painted it in September 2011, with just a few guidelines: Every child was to take part in painting the mural and no child could paint on top of another child's work, out of respect. The goal was to cover all of the space. Once that was accomplished, Joanna and Nichelle taught them how to take black to outline the edges of big blocks of color to make the colors "pop." "After it was finished, we sat back to take a look and everyone was really happy and proud!"
