Rainforest Paradise: Costa Rica for a Week

Item Number: 7007
Time Left: CLOSED

Description
This beautiful four-bedroom house sits on 400 acres of pristine beach facing the open Pacific and surrounded by thousands of acres of rainforest. All four Costa Rican monkey species come by the house regularly, while scarlet macaws nest and feed immediately beside the deck, and tapir, puma, jaguar, peccary, and other wildlife walk by the house. Sea turtles regularly nest on the beach. Truly a naturalists' and bird watchers' paradise as the property backs into a large conservation area and is near the Corcovado National Park.
In the morning or after a day of exploring, catch the sea breeze from one of the decks of this home designed with open well-lit architecture. Hammocks, rocking chairs, and long verandas and decks with views of the ocean and forest encourage relaxation. There is no email or cell phone access (just a shortwave radio linked to neighbors and eco-lodges in the area) so no one at the office will find you! (A true getaway!) Caretakers handle the cooking and cleaning during your stay. When you do decide to pull yourself off the hammock, high-end eco-lodges with good restaurants and world-class surfing are only a 15-minute drive away. The surf out front of the house is a bit big and not for swimming. However, you can walk 15 minutes down the beach and swim in the mouths of clear water rivers or take advantage of the home's private pool. The house has four bedrooms and accommodates up to six people maximum (one king bed, two double beds, twin beds). No children under the age of six years are permitted.
In addition to offering these lovely accommodations, the donors have included three books to get the winning bidder ready before departure: Tropical Nature, How Monkeys Make Chocolate, and Nature of the Rainforest. The winning bidder's stay can be scheduled for mutually agreeable dates (Saturday-to-Saturday) between June 1, and August 30, 2012. Please see the VRBO site for more details and pics.
