The Total Dancer is one who has achieved a level of competence in all areas of Dance, allowing them to perform in whatever venue they may choose. The Total Dancer is prepared for a professional career, if that is their desire, or for entering a college dance program. Of course, you find many Total Dancers are the Captains of their local High School and College Dance and Cheer Teams. Musical Theatre

The Musical Theatre Department is where the Total Dancer begins to put it all together. Jazz, Tap and Ballet skills are combined in a Musical Theatre format that allows the dancer to experience performance dynamics that include singing, acting and production. Musical Theatre Students represent Billings Dance Center at all local performances. Students studying Musical Theatre learn to work at an independent, experimental level that allows them to test their wings!

Jazz, Tap & Ballet

If your basic scholastic education includes the three R's, then your basic Dance education includes J, T and B. Jazz provides the style and flexibility, Ballet the correct body placement, and Tap the rhythm. Dancers who are confident in these three disciplines are well on their way to attaining their goal of becoming a Total Dancer. As soon as a student realizes that they love dance, they should begin studying Jazz, Tap and Ballet so they can maintain an even level of accomplishment in each area.
