Description

This is the 1959 cult film classic by Alfred Leslie and Robert Frank.  Long underground and still extremely hard to find.  DVD copies sell for $150+.

The story is the Bishop and his mother and sister come to the house of Neal & Carolyn Cassady.  Carolyn want to be a good hostess but Neal is inclined to goof with his friends "The Italian poet, the Jewish poet and the Russian poet."

With a soundtrack by David Amram, what is most natable about this film is Jack Kerouac's voiceover naration done in one spontaneous take.  The funniest part, in my opinion, is when Gregory asks the Bishop, "Is the teacup holy?  Is the cockroach holy?  Is baseball holy?"

And the Bishop says, "Baseball holy?  Wha??"
