"Leaving the Nest" The student's drew 18 different species of native California birds for this brilliant collage. The birds were then rendered in handmade, eco-friendly Lokta paper from Nepal and signed by the artists. The bird's perch, ready to take flight, on and around a papyrus oak tree. Each strip of papyrus "bark" bears the name of a teacher, aide, support staff member or parent group that has touched Lanai students' lives in the six years since this class started kindergarten. 24" x 36" framed, on watercolor paper.
