Description

Bid to own 'Canal Grande', an oil on canvas, by artist Roberto Guadalupi.

Roberto Guadalupi born in Brindisi, in 1954. He is a lover of oil painting and always paints through trust of the three things that are essential to him: live observation, intuition and logic. When he was eight years old, he was fascinated by a picture of the famous painter Van Gogh titled “The Bridge of Langlois”. Only later, would he follow the artist’s journeys around Germany, France and Holland, reviewing the sites and stages that went to characterize the Impressionist art movement.

During the 1970s, he began work as a set designer. In 1974, he exhibited at the Fiera Campionaria of Milan. The following years are dotted with solo and group exhibitions, accompanied by high awards and important consensus.

In the 1990s, his painting began to move towards romantic realism; even today, he still expresses himself through social issues as a form of denouncing institutions (represented in his works by fowl). With this theme, in 1993, he exhibited with the Forum Artis. In 1994, he exhibited with the same theme is at Palazzo Dogana of Foggia in the region of Puglia, as well as exhibiting as a representative of Apulian artists at a gallery in Milan and was adequately attested in both exhibitions.

In 1996, Guadalupi got to know a gallery owner in Modena who was also artistic director of Edizioni Ghirlandina, and thus, achieved coverage in International exhibitions in Gent, Belgium, Sydney, Paris, Budapest, Geneva and Luxembourg. He also became familiar with established artists such as Bay, Alinari, Giovan Francesco Gonzaga, Possenti, Treccani, Combas, Guarrienti, Pignatelli and Longaretti as well as with other equally well-known gallery owners. The most important support during those years however, came warmly from the master, Giovanni Francesco Gonzaga who personally has great appreciation of Soviet romantic realism- as the critics, Montalto and Segato, have, too.

In 1999, Roberto Guadalupi undertook working exclusively for Sangiorgio Investimenti d’Arte and officially entered into the space of great art collections on the international market. Some of his works have been sold at auction.

His paintings are now part of important private collections worldwide.
From 2003 to 2007, his exhibitions and events have been held in Stuttgart, Innsbruck, Luxembourg, Arles, Budapest and Helsinki, as well as in Italy.

Thanks to his journeys abroad, his works dedicated to the major cities were born. In 2007, he painted three works in black and white for the 52nd Venice Biennale.

In 2008, Francesco Gallo, the Professor of Art History at the Academy of Rome and Naples, wrote a criticism on Guadalupi’s work for his solo exhibition.

In 2009, his work was documented in the historical archives of the Rome Quadrennial.

In 2011, he received the “Gugliemo II” Prize and permanent work displayed at the Giuseppe Sciortino Museum, Monreale (Pa). In the same year, he also held an exhibition at the Eden Fine Art Gallery, New York.

He has been a member of the Arcane Movement since 2010.
