Renowned illustrator and portrait artist Alan Reingold has been painting United States presidents since 1976. His work has appeared on over 100 national magazine covers including: Time, Newsweek, Fortune, US News and Forbes.

Offered the choice to work from photos or from real life, Reingold consistently asked editors to arrange sittings in the Oval Office. From 1976 to 1988 he was commissioned and sent to the White House more than a dozen times to paint presidents and other noted politicians. After many of the portraits were completed and reproduced, the presidential families wanted the originals. Consequently, presentations of these pieces of art were often arranged in the Oval Office.
