Five years ago, owner/executive chef Alain Bennouna introduced the second installment of Zitoune restaurant to Westchester county. By combining Morocco's rich, family-centered culinary tradition with more familiar French and American recipes, Mr. Bennouna's ‘Moroccan Nouveau’ menu had already established the original Zitoune as a hallmark of New York City's fusion food movement. Since coming to Mamaroneck, Zitoune has won the Best of Westchester five years in a row, earning star reviews from Zagat, Open Table, and the New York Times. The latter even described the food as "homey but also elegant, and a bit exotic, as though Mr. Bennouna were throwing a big, themed dinner party."
