This hand-thrown 9 .5"h x 10"w vase by David Ropeik is made of high-fire white stoneware. The softly shaded glaze is created by mixing in special minerals, then, during kiln firing, ‘soaking’ the piece by holding it at a high temperature for 4 hours, which causes some of the minerals to migrate downward, creating gradually changing color, depth, and beauty.
