Description

The renowned folk artist Charles Wysocki (1928-2002) warmly portrayed, in delightful detail in his paintings, the colorful diversity of pre-modern America. "I hope my paintings revive pleasant thoughts of a bygone era," Wysocki once said, "and express a semblance of order and serenity that satisfies a need in this fast-changing world."

Featured in this painting are the famous Three Sisters of Nauset lighthouses in Eastham, Massachusetts. Wysocki's description:

"It's springtime, and the York sisters are painting in my style. They are Sunday painters who, this particular Sunday, said, 'Well, we've painting the lighthouses so many times; let's paint something else.' I thought it would redundant if there were lighthouses in their paintings. I thought it would be fun if they were doing something else."
