Description

The first lighthouse at Pensacola went into service in December 1824. The station had one of the first woman keepers in the U.S.; Michaela Ingraham served as keeper for 15 years after her husband, the light's first keeper, died in 1840. The 159-foot tall brick tower that stands today was constructed in 1858. It has been proclaimed "one of America's most haunted lighthouses."
