Specializing in Custom Pet Portraits, James Kelly will create a masterpiece of your beloved pet that will last for years to come.
After graduating from Herron School of Art with a B.F.A. degree, and over twenty years as a graphic designer and illustrator, James Kelly wanted to create a business of his own utilizing his artistic talent. Mad Lab Studio was established in 2002 when he transformed an old chemical laboratory in downtown Indianapolis into an art studio. His Madison Avenue laboratory soon became known as "Mad Lab Studio." In 2005, he moved his studio over his garage behind his home.
James has been producing lively and colorful paintings of birds and pet portraits. His interest in portraiture has been a life-long passion. "Even though I’m painting in a realistic manner, my paintings are based on abstractions in reality. Reality has many moods, twists and turns, created by man and nature. I strive to reflect this energy in my paintings, dealing with light and color that create form." James works on individual commissions from clients and participates in various art shows and gallery exhibitions throughout Indiana.
Auction is for a gift certificate of $200 to be used towards a custom pet portrait. Must be used before 9/26/2013. Winning bidder must pay postage for certificate if not picked up in person.

PRICING
The prices are based on individual portraits. For multiple animals on one canvas please add 100% of the portrait price.
PHOTOGRAPHS
With your completed order form please send several close-up photographs of your pet to work from. Indicate the photograph that best shows your pet’s personality. We need a good, clear photo of your pet’s face, eyes, and expression, since that is what we will be concentrating on. It is helpful to have additional 2-3 reference photos of the fur color and patterns. Any information you can give will help us create the best portrait. All photographs will be returned with your finished artwork. If you want to e-mail your photos, please send them as JPEGs.
PAYMENT AND ORDERING
We are now accepting Mastercard, Visa, and Discover, please specify on the order form. Make checks payable to Mad Lab Studio. Do not send cash. Please use a separate order form for each portrait. Send to the address provided along with the photographs and a 50% deposit. The balance is due upon completion of the portrait. The artist retains all rights to artwork created.
DELIVERY AND SHIPPING
Delivery time is approximately 4-6 weeks. Please order early for holidays due to the increased demand. If shipping is necessary, net shipping charges will be added to the balance due. Postage will be invoiced via e-mail when portrait is shipped as postage rates vary.
