David Shander, M.D., is a retired cardiologist who practiced at Rose Medical Center and was a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. The New York native earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. His mask reflects a self image, having lost an eye to cancer at the age of 71. "My age and physical limitations have altered my perspectives about the universe of which I am a small part," he says. "My interest in science and cosmology has grown appreciably and the mask reflects the idea that vision is not in the eyes but in the mind."
