Artist Statement:

We live in a world that has become so interconnected, where you can meet someone from across the world and with a few clicks, you learn about their entire life.  People now advertise their lives for everyone to see, but how much do we really know about that person? I grew up like so many Americans in a unique environment.  My father is from North Africa, and my mother is a native Angelino, somewhere in the middle, they met, and so I am a true American mutt. I grew up
traveling, visiting family over many of the continents.  All this
traveling gave me snapshots of the people I love and the cultures in which they live.  Over the years I've  become obsessed with my cultural background, and the people who have helped define it. Trying to sift through the cookie cutter "reality" show that our daily culture now feeds us, this obsession now drives my painting as I try to depict what I see as real and true in people.
