The “Rudder” as the locals call it, has been serving guests since 1976 and has evolved intoone of the most popular destinations for FRESH Seafood in Maine.

Legend has it, that many years ago, the tugboat, PORTLAND slowly wound its way up the nearby Cousins River. Its destination was Yarmouth, and its purpose was to provide a place for good food, drink, and hospitality. A harsh nor’easter besieged the boat at its mooring and strong winds grounded and overturned her here.

Although the PORTLAND is gone, its spirit lives on in the historic spot as we continue to provide our guests with great food, drink and, sometimes at low tide, a glimpse of the hearty old tugboat cabin itself. See our Award Winning menu for more history of our area.
