April 2-4, 2013:  Woodwind KinderKonzert - Carnival of the Animals

Picture in your mind a huge zoo, with animals of all different sizes, shapes. Whether they have feathers, gills, whiskers or tusks, all the animals of our musical zoo have distinct personalities that make them special. You’ll meet them all through the wonders of music with the help of the PSO woodwind quintet and narrator.

Tuesday, April 9, 2013: Enigma Variations

“Mysterious Mountain” is the best-known work of Armenian-American Hovhaness: exquisite, prayerful, and serene. Brunswick-based pianist Martin Perry joins the PSO in Barber’s exuberant Piano Concerto, and the program concludes with Elgar’s intriguing musical tribute “to friends pictured within.”

April 14, 2013:  Mathis der Mahler

Mathis der Maler (“Matthias the Painter”) is Hindemith’s symphonic adaptation of his own opera inspired by the famous altarpiece by Renaissance painter Matthew Grünewald. Each of the three movements reflects a musical spirit, from traditional German folksong to angelic repose to a breathtaking Alleluia.

April 27 and 28, 2013: PSO Pops! Totally Awesome 80's

From the decade that brought us MTV, Madonna, and Pac Man, your PSO salutes the best-loved songs and artists of the 1980s with music by Michael Jackson, Cyndi Lauper, Elton John, and more. Like, totally awesome!
