Description
This item is a one week adventure at the Rippleffect Aucocisco day camp. The Aucocisco program offers the perfect opportunity for young adventurers to explore Casco Bay, learn the fundamentals of sea kayaking, experience Rippleffect's zip line and climing wall, make new friends and learn about the coast. This week-long day program is offered in Introductory, Alumni, and Intrepid sessions throughout the summer. Rippleffect provides transportation to Cow Island from downtown Portland for program participants. All parents are welcome to join their child for a Parent Paddle on Thursdays of the program week.
This week-long day program is offered to Zephyrs (8-10 years old), Ripples (10-12 years old), and Waves (12-14 years old) throughout the summer.
All Rippleffect guide staff are Wilderness First Responder certified and trained sea kayak guides. Rippleffect uses an allied-based leadership approach to conflict resolution and education, involving the students in decision-making processes and teaching responsibility.
The camp curriculum is broken into the following categories:
- Sea Kayaking
- Outdoor Living
- Environmental Education
- Arts & Creativity
- Team building
Students are responsible for bringing their lunch each day (a gear list will be provided upon registration). Rippleffect will provide all necessary kayaking equipment (including, but not limited to: kayak, PFD, spray skirt).
Each Aucocisco session is from Monday-Friday each week. Students should be dropped off at 7:30am and picked up at 5:00pm daily at the Casco Bay Lines ferry terminal on the Maine State Pier.
