Summer Camp with Mr. D

Item Number: 190
Time Left: CLOSED
Description
The winner can choose between one of three camps that Mr. D is offering for the summer of 2012.
Moving and Groovin (Velocity Based Adventures) - July 9 through July 13: In this week long camp, children will explore all three of Newton's Laws of Motion. We will explore movement and velocity, construct gravity carts, rockets and hot air balloons, race creek yachts, build marshmallow blasters, fly kites, and play movement games. Plan on being outside; exploring our community, playing adventures games, challenging a zip line, telling camp stores, singing camp songs and more.
Exhilarating Science Adventures - July 16 through July 20: Create snow in July, explore color spectrums with gel crystals, experiment with solar energy in prints and balloons, and create super polymers. We'll explore magnets, chemical reactions, viscosity, solutions and simple machines. Topics experienced will include botany, geology, physics, ornithology, chemistry, and Goofolgy. Experimental based classroom fun is mixed with field based explorations. Go on bug safaris, explore creek ecology, make and discover crystals, build outdoor nature crafts, play games, sing silly camp songs and have more summer fun than Newton and Einstein.
Sun & Splash Adventures - July 23 through July 27: This week we'll explore the Wet & Wild side of fun. We'll creek float, water balloon funnalate, create tie-die art, construct life-like squiggles in their own habitat, attempt to walk on water and explore bubble-ology. We'll explore creek and pond habitats, play water games and get wrinkly. This week we'll also learn beginner rope work, fashion a zip line, geocache, go orienteering, learn map reading skill, brave adventure courses, and go on a treasure hunt.
Day camps run 9am to 3pm, Monday-Friday for students entering 2nd through 6th grades.
