15 Pounds of Aravaipa's Painted Cave Cattle Company Ground Beef, individually packaged in 1 pound units, comes frozen.
Aravaipa’s Painted Cave Cattle Company is a local heritage, grass-fed beef operation which raises cattle the way they were raised for generations before feed lots existed. Our highest priority is the health of our animals. Everything we sell is USDA certified. We never use grain supplements, antibiotics, corn, pesticides, or synthetic hormones--nothing artificial.
Our cattle are bred, born and raised 100% on the grasslands that blanket the plains and plateaus of Aravaipa’s historic Painted Cave Ranch. Our cattle browse and eat the way range cattle have for hundreds of years: on the natural occurring grasses and plants of a healthy thriving ecosystem. Healthy land; healthy cattle.
Operations are based at Painted Cave Ranch, located only 70 miles northeast of Tucson and bordered by beautiful Aravaipa Canyon and the San Carlos Apache Reservation. The ranch is managed by the Hills and Mercers, whose families have been in Arizona since the 1800s and have always valued holistic and environmentally friendly practices.
When asked why we have never used pesticides, herbicides, steroids or hormones, rancher Mike Mercer’s answer is simple. “My grandfather never needed to use those, so why should we?”
This principle of knowing the land and recognizing what the land needs allows our practice of providing sustainable healthy beef from nurtured and healthy land.
Our beef cattle were meticulously chosen for the hot, dry Arizona climate and are a specific genetic combination of: cross-Angus, Braford (a Brahman/Hereford cross), English, Continental and Waguli (a cross between Japanese Wagyu, source of “Kobe beef”, and African Tuli). This combination produces a highly drought-resistant, low stress animal.
Grass-fed beef has three to five times more conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), a fatty acid attributed with antioxidant and anti-cancer properties; it has four times more vitamin E than beef raised in feed lots, and it is higher in Omega 3 fatty acids.
Our meat is dressed locally by a USDA certified harvest facility.
