Behind Bars: Six Tickets to Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia

Item Number: 306
Time Left: CLOSED

Description
Explore Eastern State Penitentiary! This was the world's "first true" penitentiary, a prison designed to inspire penitence - or true regret - in the hearts of criminals. The original seven cellblocks spread like the spokes of a wheel, and had running water and central heat long before the White House!
Its vaulted, skylit cells held many of America's most notorious criminals, including bank robber "Slick Willie" Sutton and "Scarface" Al Capone.
The prison stands today in ruin, a haunting world of crumbling cellblocks and a surprising, eerie beauty.
Your admission includes an audio tour narrated by Steve Buscemi; Hands-On history tour with an expert guide into rare spaces such as the Operating Room, Ruins of Death Row, and the Underground Punishment Cells; Al Capone's cell; and Artist Installations.
