Description

The boreal forests of the Gunflint Trail and the rocky shore of Lake Superior have long inspired the artists who come to Minnesota's North Shore to seek solace and replenish their souls, paintbrush in hand. Nature speaks to us, telling its story. and for those of us who visit or are lucky enough to live here, we are forever drawn to the beauty that surrounds us. Pastel artist Mary Lear was inspired by this beauty on a vacation years ago, when she bought some pastels and did her first landscape. Nearly 20 years later, Mary is still doing landscapes of the place she now calls home. Do you have a favorite photograph that connects you to the North Shore? Mary will do a pastel, capturing that special place!
