What do coffee, chocolate chip cookies, timber framing, databases, lunch meetings, wooden-canvas canoes and a computer keyboard all have in common? Easy - they all fuel the mission and vision that is North House Folk School. In fifteen short years, North House has emerged as a truly unique educational nonprofit. Its Low Tech/High Touch story has offered a meaningful counterpoint to today’s High Tech/Low Touch always-faster world.

Woodchip-covered floors to flour-covered hands, flying fiber to singing blacksmith hammers – North House’s campus is defined by the high quality hands-on learning that takes place throughout the year. Indeed, in 2012, North House will host over 350 workshops featuring 100+ regional instructor artisans. Students will arrive on campus from 35 states and three countries. Not bad! But it’s no wonder; where else can you "Build Your Own Skin-On-Frame Greenlandic Kayak," bake "Wood-Fired Rustic Breads," and then dance the night away after you "Craft Your Own Moose-Hide Mukluks"?

Central to North House’s success has been an engaged community of instructors, volunteers, community partners and staff. This auction item offers a rare opportunity to experience North House on the inside and meet some of the many talented individuals who are part of the community. Spend a day with North House’s director Greg Wright, both on and off campus. Engaging discussions, abundant campus projects, staff collaboration, lunch out, and a few unexpected opportunities will make the time fly by! To make sure your Director for a Day experience is as authentic as possible, a bottomless cup of coffee and a chocolate-chip cookie punch card will be included.
