Light The Way: Building the Outdoor Commons

Item Number: 205

Description
Every campus wants to shine, and the campus of North House Folk School in Grand Marais, MN, is no exception. This item offers a compelling way to be part of this effort. Your investment will underwrite half of the materials cost of a new timbered-mounted, low-voltage light. The campus features ten of these rustic posts, strategically placed around the perimeter of the Outdoor Commons to greet campus visitors day or night.
North House’s Outdoor Commons project was launched in Sept 2011, literally days after last year’s "Unplugged" fundraising event. A year later, the result of our collective efforts are clear. The campus is even more welcoming, with lots of human-focused space adjacent to the Lake Superior for visitors and students alike to enjoy, and necessities like abundant parking moved out of the way up by the highway. perennial gardens, timbered benches, permeable paving bricks to absorb stormwater runoff, and a new wood-fired brick bread oven. A perfect place to celebrate community and immerse yourself in the world of northern craft. Five years of steady “Raise The Roof” effort have yielded inspiring returns.
