About the Artist
J. D. Challenger is a Southwestern artist who paints stellar images of Native Americans from the late 1800's.
Challenger was born and raised in Oklahoma and has always felt an inner need to express himself throught the medium of Oils, Acrylics and Watercolors.
Challenger did not attend art school and basically taught himself color, shading, light and shadow from observing nature, and then using his inate artistic talent to capture what he observed on canvas. Challenger transfers the essence of the Native American's heritage, traditions; stories sometimes poignant, often angry in a manner in which the Soulful and Mystic Aura Permeats throughout the image!
