About the Artist

Helen Anikst was born in Moscow in 1946. At the age of nine, Anikst lived in Peking, where her parents were on assignment as hydrageologists. The influence that Chinese culture had on her became quite apparent when sculpted an image of Buddah out of sand. Her peers said was of the same caliber of China's ancient masters.

After Helen and her family returned to the Ural Mountains, she spent a summer doing botanical drawings and portfoilio sketches that would help her gain entry into the prestigious Surikov Institute. After studying every aspect of and fine arts, Helen found that her artistic focus had broadened. She was awed by the beautiful sights, sounds, words, and movements which whirled around her and she felt a need to control and reproduce every aspect of this beauty.

Recently Helen and her husband have been living in Londonand her artistic focus is dedicated to the genres of landscapes and still lifes.
