About the Artists
Christine Relton and Tom Marine have been painting together for 15 years and have become widely known for their original style.
They also run the gallery Colourbox, established 1996, representing living contemporary artists from across the UK working primarily in wall based works: painting, print making and collage.
Christine was born in Cumbria and studied at Jacob Kramer in Leeds where she gained a Fine Art Degree from Lancaster based on time spent in India. She has also lived in Japan and Vietnam and painted widely throughout South East Asia - her imagery and focus on colour reflect this time.
Since returning to the UK in 1996, Christine has made collaborative representational works withTom Marine which continue to explore similar themes of place and memory. These works are exhibited widely in gallery spaces and contemporary art fairs
Tom born in Hartlepool and studied at Byam Shaw and Chelsea College of Art. As well as exhibiting and selling through galleries and fairs he is also involved in Art in Education. Tom paints in collaboration with Christine Relton on representational works. He has completed many commissions in the health and private sector with Christine and is involved in running workshops with children and various charities.
