Description
A one-of-a-kind artist’s proof, “The Cabinetmaker” from Artist Ronald Frontin is up for bid at the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce Auction.
This artist’s proof is of Dudley Rockwell, Betsy Wyeth’s brother-in-law, who was a furniture and cabinetmaker with a passion and love of craftsmanship. His exceptional carpentry and fine woodworking skills produced many heirlooms for his family. Dudley's life was full of energy, curiosity and a genuine caring for other people. He became something of a celebrity and local icon in the eleven years preceding his death in 2006 by giving interesting, personalized presentations to thousands of visitors to the nearby Olson House. Dudley was honored in 2003 by TV Channel 6 as one of the station's annual 6 Who Care recipients.
Merillat Industries purchased the original oil painting and rights to all prints, so this artist’s proof is now “out of print”. Merillat Industries did a print run only for their employees, and these prints were all signed and numbered. In 2012, Ronald Frontin called for one more artist’s proof specifically for the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce auction, which they generously provided to him – this is that last artist’s proof.
This donation to the Chamber of Commerce Auction has been made possible through the generosity of Bob Bird (Agent) and Artist Ronald Frontin. There are no more of these artist’s proofs available. This framed artist’s proof will be open for both online bidding as well as bidding at the live auction. It is 38 high” x 30” wide. Printed in the USA. The value of this item is $2500. The top of this framed, artist’s proof states “©Merillat Industries, 1996. “The Cabinetmaker” by Ronald Frontin, original oil. Commissioned in commemoration of Merillat Industries’ 50th anniversary.”

Ronald Frontin is a contemporary Maine painter who continues the American realist tradition of Winslow Homer and Thomas Eakins with his fastidiously rendered figural images set on the coast and in the countryside. His subjects include the hardworking fisherman and farmers of Maine and his family and friends.
Frontin was born in Camden, Maine, in 1962 and today resides near the town of Rockland. Indeed, he only lived out of his home state briefly, while attending the Philadelphia College of Art (1981-85) and while apprenticing in Andalusia, Pennsylvania, with the noted realist painter Nelson Shanks (1985-88).
He has recently been working on new body of work which will be seen soon in an upcoming show, the title of which is Fun and Games.

We are home planners. We want to help you plan your home, whatever your needs may be. The house is then set and once the finish work is complete, your home is ready.
Our customers are the most important part of our business and we show this by providing a few different estimates for each job so that you may come to an informed decision about which contractor to choose. Estimates will include all work to be performed so there will be no surprises or extra costs. From state fees and taxes to transportation costs, from electrical hookups to the cellar stairs, your home will be completely finished with no hidden costs or extra charges.
Our president, Bob Bird, is from Mid-coast Maine and has been in sales and marketing throughout the state for over 20 years. He saw a huge void in his area for high quality, high-end modular homes. After researching modular home manufacturers from Canada to Pennsylvania to find the best homes for his customers, he was offered the opportunity to become an Independent Builder for New England Homes, Inc. and he jumped at it, recognizing their high production standards and superb value. His first order with them was for five homes! The people in Mid-coast and Central Maine can finally have high quality modular homes at very affordable prices.
