Description
Al Buell was a “mainstream” illustrator who worked from the mid-1930s into the late 1960s. Unlike many other pin-up artists, who limited their work to calendar art, Buell painted numerous magazine story illustrations for The Saturday Evening Post and other important publications. His work was also in demand by the advertising industry, and in addition to his Elvgren-like pin-up and glamour girl images, he painted calendar art that included sentimental and historical subjects. Al Buell was best of friends with both Gil Elvgren and Joyce Ballantyne.
Image with white border is approximately 16" x 20"; actual image is approximately 14.5" x 18"
